I found out my husband was telling everyone I was the nanny of his child he didn’t send away out of pity – I got my revenge soon after

As Megan heads to her husband’s office, ready to surprise him with his favorite takeout for lunch, her receptionist lets her in on a secret. Suddenly, Megan discovers she’s been demoted from wife to nanny, allowing her husband to have free reign in his office.

Recently I found out that my husband has been telling everyone that I am his child’s nanny. A nanny he doesn’t fire out of pity.

It was an ordinary day, and I figured I’d surprise him with lunch from his favorite fast food joint. We’d both been working long hours the past few days, and we’d barely had time to catch up and be together.

It was my first time in Ben’s new office, and I was looking forward to surprising him.

“Hi, honey,” he said, answering his phone as I parked the car. “I’m just on the phone, I’ll be done soon.”

I didn’t really want to talk to him; I just wanted to make sure he was there.

I got out of the car and grabbed the takeout bag, feeling a little thrill. When Ben and I were first married, we were always doing little things like this, constantly showing up at each other’s offices or meeting in parking lots.

It was the spice that kept our marriage alive and thriving.

Ben’s office was a sleek, modern building. I walked in on the first floor, and an incredibly friendly woman at the front desk greeted me with a bright smile.

“Hello!” she said. “You’re Mr. Link’s nanny, aren’t you? Is something wrong with the kids? Should I call her or do you want to come straight up?”

I almost lost my balance and dropped the bag of food.

“Excuse me?” I asked, my heart pounding.

The receptionist tilted her head as if she didn’t know if she had said something incorrect or if I had misheard her.

“You’re not Mr. Link’s nanny?” she repeated, her smile fleeting.

I took a deep breath, trying to process his words.

“No, I’m not the nanny,” I replied. “I’m his wife. Mrs. Megan Link.”

Her eyes widened in shock, and she quickly looked around to make sure no one else was listening to our conversation.

“Oh my God,” she said quickly. “I’m so sorry! I had no idea! Please come with me.”

I didn’t understand what she was doing. She moved quickly and silently, looking over her shoulder. She led me to a quiet corner of the entrance hall where there were two leather armchairs and a sofa.

“I can’t believe it!” she exclaimed.

“What?” I asked, suddenly feeling stupid. I didn’t know what was going on. But judging by the receptionist’s actions, there was something I didn’t know.

“What’s your name?” I asked him.

“Sierra,” she replied. “But listen! Mrs. Link, I can’t believe this! Mr. Link told us all that he was a single father. And that he hired a nanny for his children so that they wouldn’t be alone after school. He said that you’ve been there since his first child, and now he can’t just fire you out of pity.”

“What?” I repeated, my voice louder than I intended it to be. “How do you know he’s talking about me and not our real nanny? Because we have one.”

“Because he showed me a picture earlier, and told me to ring his office if you show up,” Sierra said.

I felt a wave of nausea wash over me.

“Did he really say that? Why would he do such a thing?” I asked out loud.

Sierra looked down, clearly uncomfortable. She shifted from foot to foot, as if trying to decide what she was going to do.

“I really shouldn’t be the one to say this,” she said slowly. “But Mr. Link is very popular with the women in this building. And now, thanks to his story, everyone thinks he’s single. I heard he’s seeing someone in sales. They think he’s a struggling single dad, working long hours because he’s trying to give his kids the life they deserve.”

I could barely breathe. Nothing felt normal. On the contrary, I felt like I was in a fever dream, and I just wanted to wake up.

“And you know that my husband is seeing someone else? Is that for sure?” I asked, my voice shaking.

She nodded.

“Yes, but don’t tell her I told you. The saleswoman, she likes to talk. It’s not the first time I’ve heard her talk about it.”

I stood there, stunned. My husband had lived a double life, pretending to be a single father while cheating on me with women in his office. I felt the betrayal cut deep inside me, but anger took over.

I had to do something. I needed revenge. And I needed to hurt my husband as much as he had hurt me.

“Thanks for telling me, Sierra,” I said. “And I promise he won’t find out you told me.”

The receptionist leaned closer.

“There’s a presentation tomorrow,” she said. “It’s for executives, and Mr. Link is giving the presentation. I shouldn’t tell you this, but it’s the best time if you want to do something.”

She smiled kindly at me, and I realized that the story didn’t end there. Sierra was a woman telling me to get my revenge. And she was actively trying to encourage me to tell my side of the story.

How many times had my husband cheated on me?

“Here,” I said, handing him the bag. “It’s just a lunch I brought for my husband, hoping to surprise him. Enjoy it. And thanks, I know what to do.”

The next morning, Ben took his time getting ready for work. He didn’t talk about the presentation or work at all.

“What do you want for breakfast?” I asked, making my own cup of coffee.

“Nothing, Megan,” he replied. “I’ll pick something up on the way to work. I don’t want to be late.”

“As you wish,” I said. “I’ll wake the children.”

Ben left shortly after, without even saying goodbye to me or the kids.

After sorting the children and giving them bowls of cereal for breakfast, I dressed carefully, choosing an outfit that was both professional and confident.

I strapped the kids into the car and we drove off.

“Why are we going to Dad’s office and not to school?” my son asked.

“Because Dad has a big presentation today, and I think surprising him will bring him luck. Don’t you think so?” I replied.

They cheered in the back seat. Sure, they didn’t know the whole story, but they understood enough.

We arrived at the office just in time.

Sierra smiled from her desk and nodded.

“Go ahead, ma’am,” she said.

I could see my husband through the glass walls of the conference room, addressing his colleagues confidently. I waited until he was in full action before pushing open the door and entering with the children.

“Hello, honey,” I said as I led the children inside.

The room went silent. All eyes turned to us.

My husband’s face turned pale.

“Hello,” I said loudly. “I’m Mr. Link’s nanny, and I’ve been asked to only come to work if something happens to the children.”

The silence was deafening. Even my children could sense that something was happening.

“So, Mister Link,” I continued, “something happened! Your children and their mother found out that their father is a liar and a scoundrel.”

At that moment, I noticed Sierra standing in the doorway. I nodded to her and the kids, and thankfully, she understood that I wanted her to take them.

“Come on,” she said cheerfully. “I have a tray of donuts waiting for you!”

Then I turned to address the conference room again.

“Ben Link is a liar and a cheater. I’m his wife, not his nanny. He’s not a sad bachelor who has to raise his children alone. He’s a pathetic man who wants to be more than he is. Think about that when you pursue this matter with him.”

“Megan, wait,” Ben said.

“No,” I said. “I want a divorce. You can ask your lawyer to do it, or I’ll ask my dad to do it. I’m taking the kids to my parents now. It’s over.”

With that, I went to find Sierra and my kids, ready to leave Ben and his lies behind me for good.
